Ramblings in the Spessartt (1927)

 

Lichtenau, Saturday.

The pearl of the Spessart. This is
not the Spessart inn, that is situated in Rohrbrunn – but
we rename it. Here it is right… This is an old landscape.
Such does not exist any more; here time has
stopped. If landscape would create music: this would
be a German string quartet. How the tall trees sigh, a
deep sound; so grave look the paths… All around us
the forest park soughs in the evening calm.
